What's the Most Helpful Thought You Could Think?

The other day I wrote about taking a behavioural vitamin.⠀ ⠀ For a short-term motivation boost, those can work great.⠀ ⠀ But when it's more of a marathon and not a sprint, you'll want something a little longer lasting.⠀ ⠀ When you're trying to create a specific result in your life it can help to think about the types of things you could think about and believe that would be helpful to your cause. Things you could choose to believe about yourself, others, or the world.⠀ ⠀ Thoughts that inspire a feeling inside of you that is hopeful or motivating or confident or even excited. Something that reminds you that what you want is at the very least, possible. The thought can even be neutral and be a lot more helpful. These thoughts + feelings will create meaningful action as opposed to just going through the motions. It's the difference between putting your heart into something and not. ⠀ ⠀ Let me add, just because you put your heart into something, doesn't mean it will always go your way. You can totally still screw up. This is when you'll need your go-to list of helpful thoughts more than ever. So you can keep trying. Keep going. Even when it's HARD.⠀ ⠀ But hard is also just a thought. Pay attention to how it makes you feel to think something is hard. If it's anything other than motivating, pick something else that you also believe and then think that on purpose instead. “This is hard” could become “I’ve got ways to cope” or “I’m ready for a challenge”. Don't let the word hard be what makes you fail before you've even tried. ⠀
