Acceptance

Start with Small Career Counselling + Coaching offers one-on-one, private and confidential career coaching to professionals across Canada who feel stuck in career and in life.  Located in the Golden Horseshoe but with services offered virtually it's a convenient way to get on track with career goals + dreams.

Acceptance means to be in the embrace of what is without resistance. Sounds tricky, eh? It can help to know that acceptance is not necessarily about accepting an event outside of you, it is found in feeling how an event makes you feel.  Letting it happen instead of resisting it.  Resistance feels terrible and doesn't do anything to change reality.  It just causes extra suffering.

You can practice acceptance.  The more you do, the easier it gets.

Accepting your current reality doesn’t mean laying down and giving up, or admitting defeat. What acceptance does is create space for your own thoughts and feelings however they show up neither struggling with them or getting swept away by them.

If you’re unhappy at work– but you’re afraid to say it out loud. Deep down you know it’s time to make a change, and it seems likely that a change could make your life better…that it might even make sense to leave.

Acceptance doesn’t mean you passively stay and put up with what’s not working nor does it mean you need to quit your job tomorrow. Acceptance means opening up and making room for the difficult thoughts and feelings that are guaranteed to show up whether you choose to stay or whether you choose to leave.

Accepting your current reality helps you learn what and how you truly think and feel about it. Then you can start to make changes; do things, guided by your values, that will feel better.

This is what I help my clients do, each and every day.

I offer a few, free 1 hour consultation spaces to talk about this more every week. They almost always get filled up. If you want to learn about how we can work together to get you unstuck in your career and life, grab your spot and we’ll chat about how I help.
